Chemical disinfectants include chlorine gas, chlorine dioxide, sodium hypochlorite, ozone, and peracetic acid. One of the biggest disadvantages of chemical processes is the creation of undesirable disinfection byproducts with potentially significant implications on human health. </span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here is an overview of how each disinfection agent is introduced to a water system:</span><b></b></p><h5>Sodium hypochlorite</h5><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sodium hypochlorite is diluted with water in a tank. The solution is then injected by a pump into the water supply at a controlled rate mixed by a static or mechanical mixer. Basically, it is an indication of the purity of the water and its capacity to neutralize contaminants &amp; organisms based on the potential to oxidize these organisms and contaminants. </span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">An ORP controller is designed and engineered to give an immediate reading of the quality of the water and will provide a record of its readings via an integrated memory device. </span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">The reaction time of an advanced oxidation disinfection process is rapid and encompasses many chemical reactions, therefore, concentration, not contact time is the foundation for system design. </span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">Therefore, oxidation reaction tanks are sized accordingly to allow for recirculation and reintroduction of Genclean to optimize treatment concentration in the reaction tank.</span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">The readings on an ORP system controller can and shall be cross referenced and checked from time to time by using a suitable portable ORP meter or test strip kits to confirm the accuracy of the readings provided by the ORP controller.</span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><b>What is Genclean Advanced Oxidation Disinfection </b></span></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><b>solutions and how do they compare to other oxidants? </b></span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">Genclean technology is a NSF certified non-toxic, advanced oxidation (AOP) liquid formula of minerals chelated with oxygen and stabilized in an aqueous water solution. It is a suitable option in industries and applications requiring a solution to challenging situations where highly effective disinfection, oxidation and sanitization is required.</span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">It has 2x the oxidation capability of chlorine (bleach) and almost 1.5x the oxidation capability of hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and similar non chlorine solutions as measured by oxidation reduction potential (ORP) or redox potential on an electrochemical potential chart.</span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">Genclean is a product of a chemistry that is effective in a wide pH range. It does not require the activation of an external catalyst which is typically required in conventional advanced oxidation treatment processes.</span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">This solution provides the benefits of advanced oxidation plus residual protection to prevent recontamination, and it does not require a large capital investment or highly trained technicians.</span></p><h3 class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;"><b>How does Genclean work?</b></span></h3><p class="western" lang="en">Genclean works through the creation of molecules called hydroxyl radicals in combination with large amounts of other molecules including super oxides, reactive oxygen, among others to oxidize, disinfect, and sanitize drinking water &amp; wastewater streams for both commercial/industrial clients and water utilities.</p><p class="western" lang="en">Hydroxyl radical molecules non-selectively react with organic pollutants in the water source through four or more different modes of attack, simultaneously oxidizing and breaking apart these organic contaminant molecules internally.</p><p class="western" lang="en">Due to the generation and regeneration of these reactive hydroxyl molecules and other oxidizing molecules without the addition of external catalyst systems, chemicals or compounds, Genclean is inherently, safer, more efficient, and scalable. It is also can support residual disinfection protection.</p><h3 class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;"><b>How is it injected into a water or wastewater stream and what is ORP and how is it measured?</b></span></h3><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">Genclean products are typically injected into a drinking or wastewater stream through the use of a GWT liquid chemical feed pump system with an integrated pH/ORP water treatment controller. </span></p><p class="western" lang="en"><span style="font-size: medium;">This system controller measures and monitors the pH and ORP values in the water source to maintain a specific ORP range for the specific application.
